The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world and our daily routines, and most of us are still getting used to these changes. Lockdowns and gym closures have caused many people to neglect their exercise routines.

Working out is very important for our mental and physical health, and it should be prioritized even during a pandemic. While it can be challenging, there are ways of remaining fit without stepping foot in a gym. Online classes are great for helping you move while having fun and socializing (virtually)! The following tips will help you find the right classes:

Check the credentials of the person teaching the class

Safety should always be a priority, so make sure you enrol in a class that is going to be taught by a certified fitness instructor. This is a must because it means they know what they’re doing, and the exercises they recommend will be safe. All of our classes at Forest City Fitness are taught by qualified instructors, so you can have peace of mind.

Choose a suitable class

There are so many options to choose from, so select a class that is suitable for both your fitness level and your environment. If you’re a beginner, make sure you don’t choose a class that is too intense and if you’re more advanced, choose something that will keep you motivated. Your classes should also be suitable for your home because you need to have enough space to move safely. If you don’t own any exercise equipment and you want to take a class that requires weights, you can often get creative by using household objects like water jugs! Most of our classes at Forest City Fitness are suitable for all levels because our instructors suggest modifications to make difficult movements easier for beginners. The beauty of working out at home is that no one knows whether you’re modifying movements, or taking a few extra breaks when you need them. You can workout at your own pace!

Choose a class that is enjoyable

You need to have fun with your workout in order to remain motivated, so join a class that is enjoyable for you. Boredom will cause you to quit, so choose something fun so that will get you excited to join the class! Make a habit out of doing the class multiple times each week. Try different things until you find what you like so you can make it a weekly habit!

Check on availability and access

Determine whether live classes or pre-recorded classes are better for you. Live classes are great for socializing as you can leave comments for instructors and other members. Pre-recorded classes offer more flexibility because you can take the class whenever you want. You also have the option of pausing the video if you need to. We offer a combination of live and pre-recorded classes at Forest City Fitness. After live classes air, you can always go back and watch them later!
